Why this page exists
Some U.S. states, including Washington (My Health My Data Act), Nevada and Connecticut, give people specific rights over their health information. This page explains, in plain language, what consumer health data Nexis collects, why, who it goes to, and how to exercise your rights. It adds to our Privacy Policy, and it applies to everyone, wherever you live.
What we collect
- Free assessment answers: your goals and follow-up details, age, sex, height and weight (and the BMI calculated from them), state, how you've been feeling, daily habits (such as sleep, exercise and stress), what you've already tried, when you last had bloodwork, and health history, which can include pregnancy, sexual health and medications such as nitrates.
- The plan built from those answers: the bloodwork panel, provider programs, Essentials and habits it recommends.
- Bloodwork: the panel you order, your collection method, and your results.
- Provider programs: the health information you give in a program's intake.
- Purchases: the Essentials and other products you buy.
- A browser ID: a random identifier stored in your browser, so we can tell when the same browser comes back. It does not contain your name or email.
We collect this directly from you. Bloodwork results come from the laboratory that processes your sample, and program information comes from our licensed provider partner.
Why we collect it
- To build your plan and show it to you, and to email it to you if you ask
- To provide what you order: bloodwork, results, provider programs and products
- To improve the free assessment and Nexis, using answers across many people (for example, which goals are most common or where people stop)
- To provide support, keep accounts secure, and meet legal and record-keeping obligations
If you take the free assessment without saving your plan by email, your answers are kept with your browser ID only, not your name or email.
Your consent
Before the free assessment begins, we tell you how your answers are used. Pressing Start your free assessment is your consent to that collection and use. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us (below); we will stop using your data for anything other than what you have asked us to provide, and delete it on request.
We will ask for your separate consent before sharing your health data for any purpose other than providing a service you requested.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that run Nexis for us, under contract and only on our instructions: secure application hosting and database storage, email delivery, and payment processing.
- The laboratory that processes your bloodwork, when you order a panel.
- Our licensed provider partner, when you start a provider program.
- Authorities, only when required by law.
We do not share consumer health data with affiliates, data brokers, advertisers or social media platforms.
Your rights
- Confirm whether we collect, share or sell your health data (we never sell it)
- See your health data and a list of everyone we have shared it with
- Withdraw your consent
- Have your health data deleted, including from our service providers
- Appeal if we decline your request
Email support@nexis.health with the subject "Health data request". Use the email you gave us; if you only took the free assessment without saving it, tell us roughly when you took it and from which device, and we will do our best to find it. We may need to confirm your identity. We respond within 45 days, and may extend once by 45 days if needed, telling you why. There is no charge.
If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject. We will respond within 45 days. If you are not satisfied, Washington residents can contact the Washington State Attorney General at atg.wa.gov.
How we protect it
Assessment answers are stored in our own database, readable only by Nexis systems and authorized Nexis staff. Access is limited to what is needed to run Nexis. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we treat health data as our most sensitive information.
Changes and contact
If we change how we use health data, we will update this page and, where required, ask for your consent again. Questions: support@nexis.health.
